Lucky Number 13
Out of 489 in the range of folks that are considered my "class" at Cooley, I have dropped to 13th place with a 3.60 average. Fortunately, the classes I am to take for the remaining terms are near and dear to my heart.
Here's what I plan for the next 2 1/2 years of my life:
Advanced Writing (3)
Secured Transactions (3)
Con Law I (3)
Con Law II (3)
Estate Planning Clinic (3)
Pre Trial (3)
Trial Skills (3)
ADR (2)
Estate Planning (2) *
Moot Court (3)
Scholarly Writing (2) *
Estate and Gift Tax (2) *
Law Review (1) *
Probate Court Practice (2) *
Mortgages & Land Contracts (2) *
Bankruptcy [3] This will take me 1 credit over my required amount
* denotes a class that isn't required by my litigation concentration.
I think this is the right mix of classes to line me up for the post recession / baby boomer retirement wave. The foreclosures and bankruptcies are likely to continue while I slug on through my degree.

Taxation -- you might prefer it to my representation
I just got my exam results: A- in Property II missing the cut off by 4 points and an A- in Taxation. The grade in tax was a welcome surprise, I thought I got a C on the thing. It was impossibly hard for my brain to switch from the multiple choice numbers dominated portion of the exam to actually piecing together sentences. Afterward I felt like it was the worst law school exam I ever did. I was right. I got 73 out of 100 points...which is kind of like a C except for the curve. Fortunately most of my classmates must have been equally baffled. I expect that most of us are barely qualified to put together a return for Tom Daschle or Timothy Geither! Good thing there's turbo tax for me to rely on this week when I put my own numbers on paper.
